Two things which usually indicate the near end of a
discussion (1) mentioning Hitler or (2) invoking the
dictionnary.
Too bad. We had a little summer heat going on there.

Jesus Garcia, I don't now if that is a typo. But I don't like having my name being replaced with Trek Tart. It's bad enough I'm a flying monkey.

A comicbook cost as much as dinner!
***************
I'd much rather have a good comic book than "pigs feet & kraut" or "ox-tail-lamb stew". I know it was the Great Depression and all, but yuck!

Come on, Ed. You've indicated that every page so far contains an example.
Pick one and point us to it!

Me
It was cut and paste in windows which I thought was
trustworky. I've rectifed it.
Myself, I'd rather be a Trek Tart than a Flying Monkey
any day.
At least, Star Trek is real.

No, I won't.
I'll say that you were being an asshole.
One who can't put his money where his mouth is, and claims to be being
facetious when he's called on it.

I said I was being facetious in using a very specific term, not the point I was making with it. I'm getting really bored of typing facetious.

So, you were kidding about the whole thing about JB "get(ting) into
ridiculous arguments, batten(ing) down the hatches when things don't go
(his) way and let(ting) the flying monkeys pile on" thing, Ed?
Time for a public apology, then.
Right after which I will publicly apologize for calling you an asshole, and
offer to buy you a virtual beer.

Someone posts a point, an observation, or makes a statement. Hundreds of people read it. Several post at the same time reacting to the statement. It can appear to be piling on when it's really just people posting without knowing someone else is posting about the exact same thing. That's a fact. Then there's someone like you with a particular bent who wishes to twist it to make the original poster some sort of victim, as if that person shouldn't dare be questioned about the statements they've made. As if, in fact, everyone who posts here somehow should be able to communicate with one another and have just one or two people question the statements made by the person in question...
And then people are "facetiously" called "flying monkeys" by someone who only just joined the forum and has, except for a single post, only expressed themselves in this thread.
Amazing.

So is this a tactic to derail the thread in hopes that it will be locked? Or can we keep the conversation going at a civil pace. Which as far as I've read, this has been one of the most calm "debates" on any forum. I've asked Erik for a clarification. He did so on one of my points, but not on another. I don't think I was being disrespectful. He doesn't have to respond if he doesn't want to. But I don't feel I've attacked him in any manner.
