So artists have been swiping since, what, John Romita Sr left ASM?  I mean, exactly how many original poses does Spider-Man really have when you come right down to it?  Any that weren't covered in the first 100 issues?  I don't think so.

A character-specific pose, used as part of the characterization, and used repeatedly by the original artist (the one who attributed the pose to the character) is a "stock pose", not a swipe. McFarlane introduced some new poses to Spider-man and he should be credited for that. But it also means that other artists on the character cannot be accused of swiping when they use it.

Ironically, in order to claim that the image above by JB was a "swipe" as opposed to a legitimate "stock pose" one would have to deny McFarlane's tremendous influence or impact on the physical characterization of Spider-Man.

Of course, that THING cover is actually by Ron Wilson, so it's good to know the minibrains are as sharp as ever!
