The Scottish will deep fry anything, including bars of chocolate.

I think that there is an element of 'you never know, it might work!' that underlines the Scottish thought pattern.  Hence why they have a large percentage of inventers.

…gone for a burton!

••

There's a phrase I haven't heard in a while.

(And yes, I know, technically still haven't "heard" it in a while!)

Why is it that these artists can't meet the deadlines what is the real problem with it all?

Well Erik?

It's a stupid question that I have no way of knowing the answer
to.

You have no way of knowing your own opinion?!?! Well, I guess stupid is
a word that can be used here for sure then.

Once again, I am forced to conclude that there are no qualities to any of
the characters that Liefeld has created that you can identify as being of
any impression to you whatsoever. They're not heroic, amusing,
pleasingly designed... nothing.

If this conclusion is wrong, please feel free to correct it. (Such a
correction would stand as an answer to my question, though, so I'm not
expecting to see one, as my question is stupid and unable to be
answered.)

John you being in a better position then I you could answer this question. Do the creators of these comics get paid before the work is completed ?

I don't. I have a "superstition" about vouchering work before it is completed. But there are plenty of artists and writers who have notoriously vouchered work before turning it in, and then not turned it in.
