Having just finished Hidden Years for the first time, I have to say that I think your work looks better on the link you just posted than it did in the published format. I think it may be the coloring in the book, though, not the inker.

Having Joe sinnott ink just the FF in certain issues was an interesting experiment.

Bryan Eacret: Maybe you're right. Can't remember who the colorist was in XMTHY.

JB, those XMHY pages... if you tend to average three pages of full pencils in a day, how many pages of those breakdowns were you able to average?
And I know that most of your Star Brand issues were breakdowns, but were they produced as tightly as the XMHY examples?

Moose, I met Bob Layton and Sorah in Chicago last year, he had some really nice things to say about your work.

f you tend to average three pages of full pencils in a day, how many pages of those breakdowns were you able to average?•• Five. With half a day off. ++ And I know that most of your Star Brand issues were breakdowns, but were they produced as tightly as the XMHY examples? •• The breakdowns on STARBRAND were about a half a percent beyond stick figures.

I do not endorse or condone that sort of thing. I've received similar emails in
the past from enthusiastic supporters of others that they thought I'd
slighted. It comes with the territory.
You should be careful when posting emails, by the way, as it's often
unlawful to post private emails in a public forum. At the very least, make
sure all names and email addresses are removed.

That's interesting. Is the same true of letters? I had always assumed that when someone sent me a letter (or an email, especially if it was unsolicited) that it was my property to show anyone I wanted to show it to. Not that I've ever done so, come to think of it, but it seems odd that Nathan should be under any obligations to share a "secret"with someone that he doesn't know, didn't ask to speak with, and who is harassing him.
Can that really be the law?

Okay--the actual quote was located. A fan found it and re-typed it for
me and everything (thanks, guy).
It was from SAVAGE DRAGON 11 - July 1994
"It wouldn't even occur to me that Byrne would be next in line for the
King's crown had John himself not brought it up. While I thought it wise
of him not to take it upon himself to crown himself the new king I was
appalled at his lack of tact for bringing the matter up in the first place. If
merely drawing a lot of pages meant being the next King of comics there
are plenty of guys who fit that bill--- if it's creating the most enduring
commercial characters the crown would more likely go to Rob Liefeld---
a thought that wouldn't sit too well with John, I'd wager. The crown is
forever Jack's. He was a strong supporter of Image comics and our
creative forefather. We couldn't ask for a better model."
There you go. As you can see--in the above, at no point did I state that I
found anybody to be a "worthy heir to Jack Kirby."
There you go.
It may very well be that somebody somewhere said it. Hell, John was
confused about that whole background guy incident, some years back.
Maybe some other guy at Image said it.

Erik is right about emails, by the way. It's a copyright issue:

Good to know. Just wanted the person who sent the email to understand -- Erik Larsen doesn't approve of the message he sent.
Maybe it will make a difference.
Either way, I'll lose no sleep.
Done with it now and moving on...
