I see some Love & Rockets-ish-ness creeping into JB´s B&W art!
••
Not something I would fall on my sword over!

Is Liz a short woman? 5'3"-ish?

Now that you mention it, I do get a bit of a sense of that, particularly Gilbert Hernandez' Luba.

I was just thinking it would be cool to own an original art page with a JB-created character named "Joe" featured....then I remembered new pages don't have lettering on them so it might be pointless....

Sad, isn't it? The pages that hang on the walls of my Studio practically tell
stories, each unto itself, because of the lettering. Couple the absence of
same with the rather poor skills in storytelling exhibited by many artists in
the field today, and the experience of collecting original art becomes an
oddly altered beast.

Lots of art doesn't even go through the inking stage anymore.

JB,
Maybe I can get a "Joe page" down the road and you can verify it like you did the Pruitt page for Dave.
I'm getting ahead of myself I know!

Nice looking characters and that Joe looks very much like an "average" joe would in my mind. Curiousity is rising... and nothing wrong with any references given so far. :)

Random speculation:
- CITIZEN...could be either male or female...
- ZERO...could mean someone who loses/lacks legal/social status...or...as in "patient zero", someone who comes before all the others...

I like the wrinkles or kinks in Liz' clothes. For my money JB you do that as well as or better than any comic artist I can think of!
