A Walmart find from this morning:

I really like that Gentleman Ghost figure and that DC line overall.  I've thought about starting to collect them but the price point saves me from myself.

Nice find though.  Both Hawkgirl and GC are very well done toys but neither are characters that I really care about in comics.

And the next Sci-Fi Revoltech giant monster action figure is... Gigan.

[HLJ Link]

After seeing the silly "Borgified" version of him in GODZILLA FINAL WARS, it's nice to have the original gold and green "robot chicken" back.

Regretfully, gonna have to pass on this due to budget contraints, but if they come out with Megalon...

Anybody know the story on the Superman vs Darkseid statue DC was offering a few hundred years ago? I pre-ordered one from MidTown back when I still had space for it, and I still have not received it -- tho it seems like Amazon is offering it as something that came and went already!

JB - you mean this one ---?

It came out almost exactly two years ago. I got mine before Christmas in 2008.

DC Universe Hal Jordan Green Lantern vs. Thaal Sinestro 2-Pack. Going to be a TRU exclusive. Been reading the GL Chronicle volumes lately, so I am kind of interested in this one.

I hope this version of Sinestro is a little taller than the one they released a couple of years ago. Man does he look wimpy next to my other Mattel DCU figures!

Thaal Sinestro?  I didn't know he had a first name.

Seems much more villain-like and appropriate for him to be just "Sinestro", doesn't it?  Cher, Prince, etc., somehow that vanity seemed to fit Sinestro and help to explain in part why he just wasn't Green Lantern material.

DC has a bad habit of attaching unneeded names. I was moderately disgusted when I learned that Supergirl had become "Kara Zor-El", thus imposing antique Western standards upon Krypton. Even as a kid, I was intrigued by the fact that women on Superman's homeworld not only did not take on their husband's names, but apparently had a naming lineage unique to their gender. Thus, at least originally, Kal-El's mother was Lara, not Lara-El or, even more clumsily, Lara Jor-El. Kryptonian men, it seemed, did not have to stamp MINE! on their womenfolk.

The truly pathetic thing about adding "Thaal" to Sinestro's name, if that is indeed what has happened, is that I can actually hear in my mind someone up at DC declaring this necessary to make the character's name "more realistic".

Well, DC and Marvel can add all this crap, but it doesn't mean I have to accept it.  Like a lot of bad ideas, I think it's best to put Thaal Sinestro, Jason Garrick, Barrack Allen or whatever they called Barry and forget them like lots of other bad ideas.  Poof!  Go away now!

Okay, back to our thread.
