Kotobukiya has released photos of the upcoming Marvel Bishoujo Emma Frost statue:

Larger photos are on their forum.

Nice, but certainly not a must-buy for me.

Don't know what this is, but it looks pretty righteous.

Re: the updated Bowen Iron Man...
Much improved! I love this and as some has already shown, it fits right in with the Modern Captain America and Thor! I'm saving a space for this one!

Chad - I believe that's part of a series of wall hanging statues DC Direct is putting out called Gotham City Stories (or Tales?) and there's a Catwoman, Robin, Joker, etc in the series. You can choose which ones to buy and which configuration to hang them in to tell your own story.

Went to my LCS to pick up my comics and saw that they had the newest Black Panther statue from Bowen.  What a big disappointment.  They had it on display and I had to ask if that was indeed a Bowen Statue.  I was so small.  The base is very plain. They should not call it a full size statue. It just did not live up the standards that I expect form Bowen Designs. Now, being that T'Challa is a favorite of mine, I was going to order this.  I am so glad I did not.  I bought the classic version a while back with Black Panther in the jungle standing on the panther statue.  Beautiful piece of work.  But, this uninspired new statue is not worth half the retail price as far as I am concerned.
Even the shop owner said that Bowen has been a disappointment of late; the quality is not there like it used to be.
Compare:

For the same price?

While I wouldn't pay the same price as the first one, I do like the 2nd one quite a bit. It fits with the more static museum pieces. Bowen to me is hit and miss with a lot of misses... just about anything that Randy actually sculpts is worth buying. Some of the other artists just don't have that "certain something" I like about Bowen.

edit to add: It turns out that Randy didn't sculpt this latest Black Panther... I'm very surprised.

Oh! Don't worry about that. Let me explain. It was June 12, 1991, and Steve Rogers (Captain America) was called out of the annual superhero Slow-Pitch Softball Game against DC based on a call that The Serpent Society had been causing a disturbance in Central Park, NY. Time was of the essence, so he had to keep the leggings on. This happened once again in the year 2007, but softball players no longer........

Never mind, I see what you're saying. They forgot to put the cleats on his baseball shoes. What a terrible error.

When did this happen?

••

When various current artists decided they are so much better at showing us what a uniform designed in the 1940s would look like than, say, the artist who actually created the design in the 1940s.
