These Bowen design are fantastic. The Beta Ray Bill on the website is extremely well done. I wasn't too surpised to find out that many of these have been digitally sculpted. McFarlane Toys I know does pretty much everything digitally now. First, the animation industry, then the sculpture/toy industry, is the comics industry next?

One thing that always bothers me about Human Torch 'interim' (by this I mean partially 'flamed on') statues/busts: The flames coming off his body in this state always look 'fake' somehow'
Either none 'flame' or fully 'flamed on' version for me. (Although, after years of claims that any FF statue set would be too costly, I'll take what I can get!)

Flames on sculpture are as difficult to portray as flames in black and white in a drawing. The sensation of heat cannot be duplicated very well. How do you sculpt a glowing gas?
The most widespread sculpture using a flame in the world is that of St. Jude, and these statues always look better without the flame in my opinion. Still, this version of the Human Torch shown will be much more successful than the Firestar.

I think the placement of the flames is unfortunate; one on each shoulder, one cuffing the left glove. They look like they could be part of his costume. I daresay even on the final painted sculpture this could be true as well. I vote with Caleb, either no flames or fully 'flamed on' would be more suitable.
Also, I don't like the spiky-styled hair, I much prefer the classic Johnny with the clean-cut parted on the side look.

DC Direct: New Figures, Statues and Busts for March, 2011
Nothing really grabs me. The GL pose just looks strange. I know there are a couple of Ame-Comi Heroine statues being offered.

Wonder Woman's not too bad. Someday someone will explain to me why Green Arrow would wear a hood that obscures so much of his peripheral vision. Joker continues his transformation into the movie version. sigh

The GL/Sinestro set would be a definite maybe... if they weren't smaller scale than the Cover Girls of the DCU line of statues.
Yes, yes, I know they're different series, so the scale thing shouldn't be an issue, but what I mean is, the ladies are all in the vicinity of 10" for 80 bucks. Hal and Sinestro are 7-8" each, and the pair run 175 bucks, or more than double one of the taller ladies.
Remember the JLA Cover to Cover series? They were 7" tall each, at 60 bucks a pop. The Hal/Sinestro set should be 120-130 max, but 175 is just too damn much for something so small that's just the first in a series of other vs. statues.
