I’ll never get the common trope of having shirts and pants so tight that every micrometer of muscle definition is revealed, but emblems and boots are sticking out 1-2 inches like they’re made of foam rubber.

What I still have a hard time wrapping my head around is if you are going to base a piece upon an artist's work and have that artist's name attached to it, if the artist is still alive should he or she not be consulted in the very least? All it takes is a phone call or an email. In my opinion, lazy on DC's part. I'll be honest JB, surprised me that you had not been notified of it's existence. Is this common place?

While the face is not too bad, IMHO, it is NOWHERE NEAR what JB drew. JB drew the handsomest Man of Steel I have ever seen...better looking than JLGL or Neal Admas, even. I think Christopher Reeve would've been flattered by JB's art.
That being said, I've seen a lot worse representations, both in print and on collectibles. The current trend tends to have Superman scowling. That figure does evoke that last page of the limited series, though.

Yeah, that face has no traces of George Reeves or Christopher Reeve

“I’ve seen a lot worse” falls somewhere short of a sterling endorsement!

Coincidentally I just add this one next to the "Invincible" one.

Not a fan of the darker shade of the cape, but apart from that, that one is pretty good.

Re: the "Man of Steel" statue: I took a look at the actual JB image, and I can see why the sculptor went with some aspects that seem off with the statue (ie the ears, which don't seem to me per JB's usual style). But, it has missed the hair and face by a lot, which is the most important part, imo. The unnecessary seams all around and the altered S-shield don't help at all. If they are supposed to be doing a JB inspired statue, they should never change those important details. The one above perplexes me. Is it supposed to be Reeve? Is it based on someone's work? And I agree the darker red on the inside of the cape is redundant...

The worst part is the changed expression. JB's is one of hope and determination - this statue instead has a sour puss.

One of these days I’ll have to dig out my remaining Sculpy (probably hard as a rock) and try my hand at a version of my Superman’s face.

PS: as much as I now wish I had not taken on the project, there is still a deep thrill to typing the words “my Superman”.

PPS: poking around Google I find many (many!) “reviews” of my work on Superman, ranging from “it sucks” to “greatest of all time”.Neither of those is entirely true, but what strikes me is that these opinions are still being expressed now, almost forty years after the fact. Move on, people. My Superman has been almost entirely erased. Really. Nothing to see here!
