JB and George Perez draw the best cockpit scenes.•• Thanks! I'm reminded once again of a story I have told before. In an early issue of DOOMSDAY+1 I was called upon to draw an airplane cockpit. So, off I trotted to the local (Calgary) library on what turned out to be an unrewarding quest for reference. I tried a few bookstores, with no luck there, either. Then, as I was walking back to my apartment, it occurred to me that I was focusing on those of my audience who would know what a cockpit looked like--which was probably about .0001%. So, borrowing a page from the book of Ken Adam, the production designer on DR. STRANGELOVE, I decided to invent my cockpit, making it all up as Adam had done for that movie's key B-52 set. And that's what I've done ever since. (Important to note, of course, that I am rarely asked to draw realistic cockpits in realistic aircraft. They're mostly all sci-fi, as on yesterday's page.)
