I feel guilty of not recognizing this Storm / Don Lawrence source. I own lots of these books and remember recommending this series on this very board no that long time ago...

I can't get enough of these Shi'ar scenes! I usually prefer to see superheroes (and supervillains) in more mundane settings, but the alien beings and surrounding technology you're giving us... That's beautifully drawn stuff, JB!

I'll second what Wallace said about these Shi'ar designs-- it's great to see aliens that are otherworldly in every respect.

Something I’ve tried to avoid over the years is what I call “Central Casting Syndrome.” That’s where extraterrestrials are basically humans in (sometimes minimal) disguise.

Ironically, of course, I’ve spent my whole career in “universes” where this was exactly the case. The Skulls, the Kree, the Shi’ar, DC’s Martians, Kryptonians, and, the big one, STAR TREK’s most prominent aliens.

I’ve tried to create a diverse range of alien forms when the opportunity has presented itself, and even slipped in a few explanations of humanoid aliens. Think of Marinna, for instance. And I snuck in a suggestion that Kryptonians had human ancestry, but I think everyone missed that.

JB, without derailing the thread, could you elaborate slightly on the suggestion of Kryptonian's ancestors?

JB: Check out the “Host” story.
_______________

Just pulled the MOS #2 trade paperback and read the story. I had forgotten about that part, but it's a perfect reason why Jor-el would naturally choose Earth as his son's destination! Thanks.
