Speaking of Jahf, with him being your very first creation during your X-MEN, run, was there any sort of suggestion by Chris on how he should look?

There are some neat visual touches on the most recent page. The way it moves from the inset headshot, to the group scene and then into the split panel headshot. The X-men's craft docking bay is beautifully composed and the that final panel where the art and writing mesh so well with an overbearing Gladiator and defiant Jahf puffing his chest out. It's those little touches that make a fairly static page into something much more interesting.

And away we go....
Love Jean's "Pissing Contests" comment.
Looking forward to seeing what Professor X can do for Kitty and Astra.

Kitty’s hair is a nice touch, floating in a zero-G field.

Ya know, JB... You're pretty good at this! There's a lot to love about today's page, but I'll limit myself to three... for now!
- A not-so-gentle reminder that things are not all peachy keen between these two teams
- "I... do not understand your words, Jean Grey."
- Kitty's original X-Men-style uniform
- Shi'ar technology
Okay, okay. I know that's four. Sue me!

"I...do not understand your words, Jean Grey." - I don't know why, but that line made me laugh. I guess some things even Universal Translators can't be expected to fully translate the meaning of.
Kitty had better be alright! Don't make me go outside to shake my fist and yell at a cloud, JB.

I forgot to mention that JB also used that standing-on-the-bottom-of-the-panel thing that some artists say shouldn't be done, but I think looks neat.
Sooo... FIVE!

That first panel on today's page is a master class in superhero comics all by itself. The perspective, the on-character dialogue, the barely-contained pent-up energy in the poses...it's superb.

These first pages of the issue are so heavy on background details. That's a lot of heavy lifting.
I too love the tension....and the characterizations. This issue in particular almost feels like the very beginning of the UXM series in a strange way. I'm not sure why. It's all so open as to where it might head.
This consistently hits a spot nothing else even come close to reaching. Almost a lost art.

Tempest is obviously named... ready to restart the fight. IN a sealed atmosphere and ship. It occurs to me that neither Fang nor Jahf were the "warrior beast" of the Imperial Guard as Wolverine is of the X-Men. Tempest looks like the trouble maker of the I.G.
Jahf... perhaps someday we will learn why he fought the I.G. as well as the X-Men in his first appearance. If I remember right, the guardians of the M'Krann Crystal fought ANYONE who came near it, X-Man, Imperial Guard, or anyone else. Jahf seems to be an I.G.er in his Elsewhen appearances...
