In Fantastic Four didn't you?
Elsewhen is what superhero comic books should be and should nerver have ceased to be. The pace of the story, the art, the characters... That's perfect.
Itwould be a dream if Marvel for instance decided to restart every series and ignore all those thousands of retconnings that ruined so many characters!
Sadly it's a dream that will never come true...

Good catch Wilson! From FF #250, entitled "X-Factor" - a really awesome story.
(before there was a book called X-FACTOR)

Another lovely page today, and thought provoking. Just what could muss up Gladiator quite so much? It even messed up his hair...
Interesting to see that Jahf and Gladiator are old friends. Outside the M'Krann crystal, I didn't get that impression... but that was a rather busy story.

The pace...••• As I’ve been posting these pages I’ve been aware of how FULL this issue is. Old time Marvel! Yay!

Champions, the '70s West Coast group, had X-Men connections with Iceman and The Angel, and The Beast crossed-over in one story with magneto as well as The Sentinels and some old X villains in the final issue (Tuska art finished by Byrne). That issue followed events from X-Men #100. I think any '70s Marvel collection would need at least #11-17 (and Super-Villain Team-Up #14 with the Byrne cover and part one of the Magneto story).
Pedantic geekette question: does anyone know/remember, was Gladiator meant to be the 'homage' to Mon-El, or Ultra Boy, in The Legion Of Super-Heroes? Or possibly even Superboy? I'm glad if those connections became fuzzier later, and non-imitation characters were added... kind of like The Squadron Supreme, so it doesn't really matter. I love Dave Cockrum's work mostly but he could get very fannish and cute with such references, so don't want to take anyone out of the story... his more original characters have certainly stood the test of time.

From FF #250, entitled "X-Factor" - a really awesome story.••• I attended a New York con not long after completing my part of that issue. At a Q&A panel, someone asked if there was any chance I might draw the X-Men again. I reached into my portfolio and pulled out a xerox copy of one of the pages. I believe the expression is “the crowd went wild.”

Thanks, Superboy/man colors, makes sense. I vaguely remember seeing the Ultra Boy type character now. There were so many of 'em... :^)
