James, have you ever seen some of Amazon's gold box deals? While there's every possibility it's a mistake, it could also be a random short term sale. Look at the number of times the Don Martin collection that so many of us here bought went on sale for $50.00 at B&N - that was a $200.00 plus book. If it IS a mistake and the sales get canceled, no harm, no foul. If it's NOT a mistake, then some lucky shoppers fell into a great bargain.

I was going through my Amazon wishlist last night and noticed some non-Marvel stuff was marked down to $14.99. I didn't think much of it since it was only a couple books and the original price was much lower than the omnibus books.
James, if Amazon catches the mistake and doesn't ship any books why would they fire someone over a mistake like this?
edit: slow typing gets beat to the punch every time.

I picked up a bunch of stuff myself and noticed that Shadowflame is listed for preorder for November! :) I picked up the Invincible Omnibus. 800 pages for 8 bucks! Plus a few Masterworls and the Secret Wars Omnibus. Yes. I liked Secret Wars.

i don't know what business you are in, but get a clue. Some guy made a mistake. Amazon has a choice 1) Honor the prices and lose a fortune 2) Cancel the orders and incur the wrath of thousands of customers that have put books like Madman in sales rankings ahead of Twilight. Negative publicity... even more of a reason to fire the person responsible. Clueless and sad. enjoy your comics... there used to be pride in hard work, paying your own way, etc... sad to see people buy things they wouldn't have wanted yesterday because its cheap. Sad or pathetic.. too close to tell.

its clearly not a gold box sale because Amazon has the MSRPs wrong. The amazon sale price is one thing... the MSRP is completely another. Don't willfully ignore facts just to feel better about buying comics.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother with the "polite discussion" approach on the internet.

How do we know it's a person responsible? Why are only Marvel books affected? Maybe it's a computer glitch and everything with a similar SKU is affected?
Heck, why would Amazon have to fire someone over this? If it was a mistake, it was a mistake, and they don't honour the prices anyway so they lose no money. Amazon won't incur the wrath of customers - anybody buying these things KNOWS how much they normally go for, and there hasn't been a single website I've seen it on saying anything other than "it doesn't hurt to try." No one actually EXPECTS Amazon to honour these if it is a glitch or something.

it "doesn't hurt to try" to do something that knowingly is likely an error, and would cost a good company to lose money? Nice ethics, pal. enjoy your comic books...

Once these orders get cancelled, how many posts of outrage (at other boards and here) do you think we will find. People SAY they know its an error, and don't expect to get the books. But once they get that cancellation email, they will have their internet message board melt down about how unfair it is that Amazon didn't honor the price. (These morons obviously having never taking a Business Law class. Even a 101 level class would teach you that advertised prices are not offers (by the legal definition) and the company is not liable to honor them). We'll see. If I am wrong, so be it. I will still think that anyone who can't afford a full priced book shouldn't be buying a discounted one. They should put the $15 in the bank. Enjoy your comics, boys.

James, do you really honestly think it is that big of a deal? Becuase it isn't. Amazon will notice a mistake and correct it. Even if there is a wrath of thousands (there won't be) Amazon doesn't need to care. They do fine and will continue to do fine. Perhaps someone who made the mistake might get written up, but in all honesty, that won't happen. It would cost Amazon more to replace a staffer who made a mistake than it would to keep them. And why is it a big deal that people want to take advantage of a good deal? It is called economics. It isn't sad to see people buy something today because it is cheaper. It is sad to see someone who doesn't understand how business and simple supply and demand works.
