I had the same problem with Banshee - Sean Cassidy. He was my friend Eric's favorite character. He found out (I think through knowing of Sean Connery - he was into Bond, I wasn't) the proper pronunciation and it took a while for me not to think of teen idol Shawn Cassidy.

Because in the correct Irish spelling of the name, there's a fada on
the 'e', which lengthens the vowel sound to 'ay'. 'S' before 'é' in Irish
always has a 'sh' sound, by the way.
Séamas - (SHAY-muhs or SHEE-a-mus) from James (H); "the supplanter,
one who supplants." Seamus, Seumus, Shemus, Shamus.

John Boehner's last name is pronounced "Bay-ner." Good thing, too!
There's a character in Priest's STEEL run with the last name Villain. "It's pronounced WILL-HAIN. It's FRENCH."

Remi9nds me of a 2nd season STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION episode. The newly arrive Dr. Pulaski calls Data Dah-ta, short "a". He corrects her saying his name is pronounced Day-ta, long "a".
"What's the difference?" she asks.
"One is my name...the other is not."

Stanton, if calling you out on your insults is against the boards rules they can ban me now. Get your Latin dictionary out and use your insults with more precision. If you want to be clever two things must occur.
- People should get your reference. Don't get too cute. Nothing is less funny when you have to explain your reference. We like to read comic books, not study a dead language.
- Make sure the terms you are using apply 100% to the insult. QED is used in scientific proof. Your study of JB being too harsh isn't by the numbers scientific. Plus his follow up wasn't harsh by any means.
Look, I understand you want to throw out some jabs and tell any of your pals that care you stuck it to the monster John Byrne. But better posters then you have at least made me laugh a few times. But keep trying, you just might get a zinger in one of these days.

My District Manager to me one day with a payroll printout and pointed to a name: "Padraig Ó Radhalaigh" and asked who Padrag Oradleeag was. I told him it was Pat O'Reilly.
