I've been enjoying this alternate history so much. JB, I hope it's been as fun for you as it has been for us readers.

Hmm. Perhaps Wolverine is really kind of an oddball mutant
superhero too. Like Cyclops having completely artificial
eye-beams, and thus deserving his name, but his actual x-
power being able to breathe under water.

Can you imagine the terror Jean's parents (being civilians) must be experiencing right now?

Though now that I think of it... Would they be more or less frightened than the X-Men given that they don't know the full extent of the Phoenix entity's powers?

Hmmm... I guess I'll go with more scared since given their perspective, after a certain point it doesn't matter just how powerful someone trying to harm you is.

The suspension in mid-air so high (the stark white backgrounds) really adds to the sense of danger and helplessness. It's a good choice of less-is-more imagery, especially in contrast with what occurred previously.

Wolverine in the Legion might've been Regener-Lad. Sorry.

Mr. & Mrs. Grey are hanging in there. So what does the Phoenix-Empress who can have anything really want? :^O

I guess even a mint copy of Motion Picture Funnies Weekly #1 and Action #1 with the coloring contest page intact won't be a lot of help...

If a declawed Wolverine had been female and in the Legion of Super-Heroes, might they have called her...

As for Lilandra, evidently she (or the Phoenix) wanted to kiss Scott, so... check that off the list.

Agreeing that Wolverine is a weird case, the overall package does seem to make a
slight amount of sense in regards to the original idea of the X-Men-- at least in
comparison to your example.

Logan's healing allows ---> bone replacement/claws ----> creating Wolverine.

He's a mutant with a wrinkle -- a compound result of mutant powers and Canadian
governmental abuse.

If he were the only exception, I think the X-Men concept could accommodate him
pretty easily. But he's not the only exception, and I guess he probably never could
have been.

Yes! To me, it's a testament to the mastery on display here that I feel so much
of their plight with very little page-count actually devoted to it.
