LINK

Trump chimes in with long debunked “link” between vaccines and autism.

Where is that giant meteor when we really need it?

Just fucking terrible. It also underlines the 'break everything' strategy of the T2 presidency; place people in charge where their philosophies are most diametrically opposed to the function of the thing they're in charge of. RFK JR. was an environmental lawyer, but rather than put him in charge of the EPA or name him Secretary of the Interior, he's put in charge of Health and Human Services, which of course aligns with his most spurious beliefs.

“In the new media age, everybody is a historian,
or a scientist, or a preacher, or a sage.
And if everyone is an expert, then nobody is,
and the worst thing you can be in a society
where everybody is an expert is, well, an
actual expert.”
Charles P. Pierce,

And President-For-Life Donald J. Trump is the
perfect example of this.  The people he is
choosing are being chosen for their loyalty to
him, and for their ability to ruin the departments
they are in charge of.  The only thing he's ever
been good at is seeking revenge and leveraging
the power that money has given him.

I think his supervillain power is to instinctively sense weaknesses/flaws/loopholes in laws and to brazenly test them. Every supposed government safe-guard is going to be tested over the next four years.

I've disliked Robert Kennedy since he first infected my awareness.

For someone like me who has dedicated decades to nonprofit work, Kennedy's thirty-year stint as attorney for the environmental nonprofit he co-founded raised an unmistakable red flag.

I've seen first hand how the nonprofit industry nurtures many welfare programs and accountability-free sinecures to enwomb disordered upward-failures squatting on the dregs of their prominent families with lavish compensation in no-show executive-for-life jobs with minimal day to day responsibilities and lots of travel for "awareness building" while grifting off their name and connections, and being congratulated for their nobility in doing so.

It turns out Kennedy repeatedly lies and didn't even found Riverkeeper. He might deserve credit for being part of a team with several significant environmental wins, but that wasn't good enough.

Anyway, it's still the closest Robert Kennedy has come to having a job in his entire life. And now he's going to be HHS secretary. The rich kid arrogance and dilettantism of it all is offensive.
