Over time since then, your average number of panels per page has reduced to frequently half that prior amount, albeit with larger panels.

 | •• Mostly it depends on what's happening on the page. If there's call for a substantial establishing shot, for instance, there will be fewer panels around it. If there's a conversation, more panels (mostly to keep such "dull" activities from occupying too many pages in a row). Fight scenes will tend to fewer panels. Curiously enough, the JLA miniseries I did a few years back (the one that Chris scripted) had the highest per-page panel count of any job I'd ever done--and yet I found that I was producing that series at upwards of SIX pages per day!! Eventually I realized that, counter-intuitively, more panels actually meant LESS drawing!

 | Alone against a mutant hit squad, she manages to 1) spot a crucial weakness and 2) exploit their overconfidence. Don't know if this will give them a chance to call for help, but getting hit by a full-force optic blast point-blank must have rung their bells a little! |

Very interesting that the W.I. Jean is telekinetic only, like the original recipe Jean.

Bit dangerous to be blasting folks with optic blasts, but they did ask for it. Can you imagine how scary it would be to be hit by one of those things? It travels at the speed of light, so it would just be instant pain. |

I am beginning to wonder if these "M-Men" are really built for battle.
Yeah, they defeated their reality FF and Avengers. Then taken over their world.
From that point on, did they have any consistent challenges that would have kept them battle ready like our heroes? |

It's just a guess, but Jean probably knows not to use full force as she also knows that at least two of those struck could potentially get pulped (I would assume M-Cyclops has a huge resistance to even a full force blast).

That exact thought struck me when this "field trip" suddenly seemed to be so much more. |

Given what she's likely seen in their thoughts, I'm not sure Jean was all that worried about hurting them with Scott's optic blast.
