Do a lot of websites need “a lot of trouble” to be taken to explain their names?

***

To be fair, it's no less confusing than the title of this website.

If ELSEWHEN was on Facebook, I would probably not be able to see it. I'm not comfortable with walled-off internet sites complete with corporate eavesdroppers....but I'm a bit of a computer dinosaur, started with 300 baud modems in the 80's, and all that.

And the name strikes me as poor taste. I would have to try very hard to overlook it, if it was my last name in the title.

That bit about a somehow freer discussion on the FB board seems... off.

But it plays to the Big Bad Byrne myth, which is all that’s needed.

Joel: Bunch of savages out there Mark. Don't let go of those pearls.

People are lazy. Low quality people spend their days on Facebook. Hopefully, this place outlasts that hellhole.

What a very thoughtful and kind comment.  There are numerous members on here who are on FB and the Byrne fan page who haven't come close to saying anything as low quality as your comment right now.

Knew I should have corrected that!

The name was actually suggested to me at a con, somewhere around 1991.

I wonder if Jeff could add some kind of watermark that would prevent the pages being posted elsewhere?

The only reason I can think of for discussing John Byrne, when the artist himself created his own forum for fans to do just that, is posters there do not want John Byrne to have control over those discussions in any way at all.

I doubt anyone who finds their way to our “entrance” would be long confused. My name, my covers, and Rogie! I don’t think this is AT&T!
