Seriously, the worst thing that could have happened to Marvel and the entire real world would have been that you didn't do the Fantastic Four.

Agreed!
I'm sorry things didn't work out as you planned with X-Men, JB, but your run on Fantastic Four is truly the stuff of legend.
Nobody handled those characters as well as you did. Well, there were those two other guys a while back who did a pretty decent job... what were their names? Kurtzberg? Lieber?

JB, this has been noted before, by me too, but your Beast is so very much the real McCoy! Love it!

As most of you know, the only "real McCoy" for me is Hank as he was before his enfuration*, but I am able to enjoy this version in its own way._______________ * Yes, I made that up

All the faces especially the bottom two panels are just exceptionally well done... Also nice to see some humanity peeking out of Wolverine from time to time

Hurgh. Just learned that Jahf (as in Modt and...) is a robot. Strange that I didn’t realize that when I created the character. sigh

I think the best Marvel team book stories show the group working as a true team, and decidely not working when at odds. I have not been fond of the multiple team epics like SECRET WARS as it just becomes a mush of faces. The elements of a high stakes story seem forgotten once the fists start flying.
This part of ELSEWHEN is a master class in how to bring teams together. Communication between the teams is not perfect, there are some missteps, and Wolverine gets the shit kicked out of him instead of him kicking the shit out of everyone else. And yet they find the elements that can bring it all home.

I'm a little surprised you had not known until now, JB, that Mr. Claremont had written in X-MEN #108 itself that Jahf was a robot. My assumption was that artists would typically read what Marvel Method writers later added to their work.

I also like that the teams still respect one another. That's been lost for quite a while.
