'Or holding back her hand. . . . '
That's how I read it. Love Jean's expression as she's looking at Scoot in panel two.

I may be misremembering this, JB, but I recall that you mentioned in an old interview that the Greys' house was based on the layout of the house from the TV show "Bewitched." If so, are you still using that for the basis?

Your memory does not fail you, Matt. Of course, thirty-nine years ago I was working entirely from memory. In the age of Google I’ve been able to tweak some of the details.

“Characters © Marvel”

*************

With the introduction of new characters, like the Abascals, would the copyright be changing?

And going forward, couldn’t the X-Men meet saaayy the PROTOTykes?

There's so much I like about this, but one of the most gratifying is seeing Kitty
develop as a character. She was new and still green during your original run,
but your final issue gave us my favorite Kitty story that left me wanting to see
more.

The moment where she instinctively saves Charles from the truck is a great
window into her character.

That's a heart-wrenching scene, JB.

I love when a bunch of characters have such natural, different agendas like this. Jean's mom's misgivings are extremely reasonable! Also, so smart to have this occur while Xavier is away. I doubt she could have hidden her emotions from him.

Some of you will recall when I've mentioned in interviews over the years that Chris and I planned to have Dark Phoenix become a recurring villain, after Jean had been "lobotomized" by the Shi'ar. I've described how we imagined Mr. and Mrs. Grey taking Jean to the movies ("The Cat from Outer Space" was mentioned!) where she was set upon by some street thugs while her parents were distracted.

What's happening now is the set-up for the 21st Century version of that sequence--very different, and with very different consequences.

Just playing around........ for now.

••

It would, and it has.
