I think the low riding shorts are making his legs look stumpier than they really are, but overall this could be much better as the photoshops show.

Wow! What made them go with that blood red color for the boots? I'll never understand the decision-making process for some of these guys.

In all honesty, I doubt we'll ever see the type of cinematic magic achieved by Christopher Reeves again. If ever a real person perfectly captured the image of Superman so many have in their minds, that man did.

I think one of the things that bothers me the most about live-action Superman is the hair. I know the comic book image has this perfectly thick black mane rarely seen in real life save on fella's like Ronald Reagan but Brandon looks to me to be a little thick and maybe even greasy on top. He looks more like a meatball who uses a lot of gel than the savior of humanity.

Clancy Brown, although far too ugly to be Superman, has the kind of indestructable mane that I always picture Superman as having. It's thick and virile but it doesn't look like he teases it to get it 'just right'. Something about Superman and gel just doesn't sit right with me. That hair needs to be natural but well-groomed and not something that looks like he just brushed it. Remember, this guy flies...

He's very brave wearing that suit. Somehow it seems more skintight than Chris Reeve's or Dean Cain's, even though I guess it isn't. Maybe it's a slightly lighter material?

Is the cape too long?

On Chris Reeve's costume, the cape extended to around the top of the boots.  Of course the boots were quite a bit taller.  So yeah, too long.

There is only one Andy Dick joke I have ever found funny.  It's regarding Speedos and it's from NEWSRADIO:  "Speedon't!"

He can probably act well, but the guy just doesn't look like Superman.

Reminds me of an old joke - pants so tight you can not only tell his sex, but also his religion...

I like your changes, as you corrected the only things I really had a problem with about the outfit being used.

Gerry,

So far your "revamped" version is the bestest!!!  Can I ask for one tweak, something super-petty that has been buggin' me about this picture since I saw it on the net early this morning: can you photoshop out that little bit of hair that goes over the nape of his neck and shows through on the photo??  I always envisioned Superman with a super clean cut look in the back.  You can imagine how I must have suffered through the long-hair phase.

AWESOME JOB!

Marc

There is no longer any reason -- any reason for us, as fans, as consumers, as the people buying the goddam tickets, to accept anything less than an absolutely faithful rendering of the characters we see in the comics. SIN CITY proves this, demolishing every Hollywood lie of the "we have to make changes" variety for all time.

Whether this is "close enough" or whether anyone "likes it" is not and never should be an issue. If it does not look like any version of the Superman costume seen in any of the comics, it is wrong. End of discussion.

But...but Jessica Alba wasn't topless!
