I say this in all honesty, the new costume reminds me of a back up
dancer I saw who was dressed as Superman for a drag queen that was
dressed as Wonder Woman (there was also a Batman dancer too). I
think ( and I never thought I'd be saying this) is that the costume is
too overtly sexual. Even the belt is pointing directly down at
his crotch. This Superman looks more like a guy I'd pick up at a
circuit party than the worlds greatest hero. Maybe Singer is
indulging in some homo-erotic Superman fantasy with this outfit, but I
wish he would have kept it in the bedroom and off of the silver screen.

Why oh why is it so dark? This isn't the X-men. This isn't Batman. Can
someone color tweak it away from maroon back to red please!

I don't see any homo eroticism (or whatever Tony and possibly Eric are implying)in the costume. I don't see it overtly sexual, excep that it is a skin tioght costume.
I like a lot of it, and could get used to the dark colors. The "speedo" is too small. But on the whole, I think it works pretty good. I like the cape. The emblem seems small.

Is this still the bad tar-flavored superman from Superman 3? I thought we were ignoring that one?

In some pocket universe somewhere Superboy is missing a pair of trunks.

The costume looks like a wetsuit and Brandon Routh reminds me of John Haymes Newton's Superboy (only he had a more accurate costume!) His legs look stumpy. Disappointed. And why 'update' the Superman costume while keeping Clark Kent old-fashioned? Hmmm

Well the S is way to small for sure- but overall it is a pretty good take and a lot closer than I had originally feared. In fact the actor's look isn't that bad but it doesn't quite look like Superman for me because Reeve's will always have that role in my head. He was probably the best casting ever and one can't complain really that such lighting hasn't struck again. I will be more interested if he acts like superman than how he looks.

I'm not implying it, I'm specifically stating it's there, and believe
me, when it comes to homo-eroticism I know whereof I speak. Trust
me when I say that this Superman is every gay comic book reader's wet
dream (myself included). But it's not the Superman I want on the
big screen. The top looks like a spandex muscle shirt that I've
seen hundreds of circuit boys wearing, and instead of briefs we have a
speedo bathing suit that is more suited to Fire Island than
Metropolis. It's almost like they did a Queer Eye for the Super
Guy on him.
