I'll agree DC has made some mis-steps with their own character, Matt. But it was their character to err with. This guy, this suit, don't seem right, and I don't know how anyone could think, "yeah, that'll work." |

Well WB owns DC, so it's their character too.

Mark my words, this isn't the ONLY uniform Superman will be wearing in this movie. Don't be surprised if we see him dressed in black with a silver version of the "S" symbol by the third act. |

I think the same thing, but reversed. I think when he returns to Earth in that ship, he will be wearing the black costume with the silver "s". And we will see the world changed, even Superman. I see the donning of the familiar (relatively) costume as the triumph moment in the movie when Superman is really back and set to make things right-recapture Lois, beat the bad guy, etc.

Unfortunately, they have been filming principal photography for some weeks now. Unless they do some digital color correcting in post-production, or this suit's reds are muted for some technical reason, this is it.
Anyone else hate the crap on the boots as much as I do?

I disagree, Rob. I think he'll be wearing the
traditional outfit first, since it's the one we all know,
and then he will transition to a new, "kewler" outfit, for
whatever big threat he has to confront in the final act.
EDITED TO ADD: Same formula used for "Batman
Forever"--Kilmer started out in Keaton's uniform,
then switched to an updated one.

Here's a quote from Latino Review. It may or may not turn out to be true, but consider the usual SPOILER warnings applicable:
Also there will be at least
two suits used in the film. The original classic costume and the
other one will be (his space suit) for his journey back to Krypton
that will have a strong resemblance to this image (on your right).
Lastly I saw that you’ve posted the set pictures from Reuters.
That crash scene in the Kent farm is when Superman crashes back
home from his Krypton journey.
The image they're referring to is this:

I know the title of the thread say "spoilers," but I thought that was to do with just the reveal of the outfit... I trying not to read too much about the film.

Oh - I didn't see the spioler part till I went to that website... that doesn't bother me as much - can't blame him for being curious, can we?
I just had a sick feeling that somehow that infamous Abrahams script that made the rounds on the net a few years ago was being used.
Whew...!

The S-Shield is small for a reason. Take a piece of hard rubber at the size you would find ideal and try to move your arms with it. The smaller shield is easier to move in etc.

I get that part, I just don't get why the emblem has to be made of rubber.

I agree with JB. And I really did have high hopes for this film.
Aside from this travesty of a suit, Routh just looks too young. They
should've gone with Gerard Christopher -- and the suit he used on the Superboy TV show.
