I just went back to the sequential thread and it was huge treat. JB your craft from the "then" to these pages are stunning. You haven't just gotten better you've blown your own older work, that was already great, out of the water. No ceiling, amazing. So much fun.

Love the new images. Just a bit more clear, but it is nice to see all the detail.

Thanks for the updated images, much appreciated. Stumped as to who could potentially ink these and do them justice tho, other than your good self, of course.

I've been looking a lot at the old issues, in ESSENTIAL form, and I'm surprised to see the degree to which Terry was redrawing. Subtle stuff. Like in how he and I take a different approach to building a face and head, and in the inked pages I can often see more of Terry than me. An example, I suppose, of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.

Interesting that you mention this. Looking at Terry Austin's inking over artists as disparate as yourself, Howard Chaykin, Al Milgrom and Marshall Rogers in that late 70s/early 80s period, I've noticed that there is a similarity that comes through particularly in the facial features.

A neat way to gauge Terry Austin's contributions during JB's run is to look at the Dave Cockrum (et al.) covers for those issues that Mr. Austin inked. Also, perhaps even more, Mr. Austin's solo covers on issues #142-143.

They seem unable to consider whether something is different because it has gotten better!!
