That Dr. Doom statue reminds me of Gene Colan's version of the character.

Wonder Woman Bishoujo statue concept sketch.

***

Certainly looks like Shunya Yamashita's art style.  Nice to see he's doing the art concepts for the DC bishoujo's as well.

Not sure whose version of the Vulture you guys are looking at!

*******

Well, JB is right, maybe I visualize a skinny vulture on my mind (or maybe it was later rendered like that, should pull out the essentials..), but my point about body building statues still stands, I think a little more variety on the figures would be nice.

Just picked this up today from HLJ:

The ship in the foreground is Aoshima's die-cast replica of the Nautilus, from the Gainax anime TV series Nadia of the Mysterious Seas (very loosely based on Verne's 20K Leagues Under the Sea).  The TV series itself was one big homage/send-up of SF/Fantasy & popular culture, so it's no mistake that this Nautilus incorporates elements from many sources, like the Alpha submarine from Toho's LATITUDE ZERO movie, the giant bugs from Miyazaki's NAUSICAA, and a dash of the Space Battleship Yamato.

In the background is the Aoshima die-cast replica of the Atragon (arrived last July), and my Disney Nautilus replica.

Those look fun Bill.  Now you need to go find a Seaview one.  Loved Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea when I was kid.

Brad, Aoshima's "Shin Seiki Gohkin" line of die-cast replicas are a real hoot!  It's not apparent in the photo I posted, but those two submarines have loads of features that replicate the their cinematic counterparts (from LED rocket engines, hidden missle hatches, motorized drills, retracting fins, jettisonable conning towers, etc.).  The hulls are die-cast, so both of those have a real heft to them when you pick them up (much different from Bandai's past Yamato replicas).

Also, I did picked up the Polar Lights 11 inch Seaview model kit just last month!

Bump Just seeing if this thread was working properly for me. Seems it appears locked to some people on the board.

Are you guys digging the DC Classic 9 in. figures? They seem to have pretty cool "build a figures", including a sweet looking Darkseid in the latest wave.
