Seeing those Joes brings back some memories.  They had the coolest animated commercials!  I remember they would start as commercials for the comics (!!!) and a month or so later truncated versions cutting to the toys featured in the spots would follow!  They had me hooked.  I'd usually catch those commercials while watching Bozo before school and then just spend the rest of the day daydreaming about the coolness I had just watched.

Stephen Sommers, you raped my childhood!!!

"And on that comment, Eric, Diamond Select did the "classic" suit in a similar pose. I think that may even be the same base. Can't seem to find a picture online, tho."

Really?!  Now I HAVE to search for it.  My only fear is actually FINDING it as I'm sure if its old enough that a pic is hard to find, someone will be charging an arm and a leg for it.

Reminds me of my chrome Bowen Silver Surfer bust which I paid waaaay too much for in my excitement in actually finding one.  I recently checked ebay and people are now asking up to 3x what I overpaid for it!

Regarding the links to other sites, as a big Bowen fan I appreciate Al's posts of Bowen sneak peeks.  He usually only posts once with something new and cool.

Which reminds me, THANKS AL!

Why is nostalgia so expensive?

An in law's brother is one of the biggest collector's of the original Joe stuff and has everything and multiples of everything, I remember going to his room and seeing 3 boxed aircraft carriers (on top of everything else) it was just amazing seeing that much stuff in one place.

One man's nostalgia is another man's junk. I would not pay a nickel for a pristine mint still in the box GI Joe. Just means absolutely nothing to me. But show me a page of original art from some antique comic book that has special meaning to me, personally, and I will cheerfully fork over the florins!

You're welcome. I'm glad you & others like Bowen. To me, his statues remind me of the Marvel I grew up reading. It's hard to get that feeling out of a lot of Marvel's own output these days. Still, I have hope that one day Mr. Byrne will return, Roger Stern will be given a regular gig, and so much more. With Marvel and me, it's all about hope. :)

I still have a few GI Joes around here . They are not in excellent conditions but they're still on one piece.

Al, not a day goes by I don't hope for the same thing! I miss Marvel. The real Marvel.

Garett, are there any online toystores selling the whole set at once? I admit I laughed at the GI Joe return but the figures are so freaking cool!!! It didn't take long to break me down! :D I got the Season 2 five characters box set and the Cobra Island 10 figures playsets.

Para-viper is soooo cool. The hidden accessories are whoooaaaa *gushes*

FUN SCORE 20/10

To people who haven't seen the figures in person, the 25th anniversary collection totally blows away ALL of the original issues. They're "enhanced" the detail is incredible.
