Negative Man all pumped up? No thanks.

Why is it that these goddam sculptor artists have to buff up the obviously slender characters, like Negative Man. How much more dramatic does the character have to be than to be dressed in a cool crimson uniform with his head wrapped in bandages and goggles?

And would it have worked to have the actual "Negative Being" on the reverse side of the figure, facing out? I was just trying to think of a way to include the actual Negative Being, but the Being isn't exactly "man-shaped". So.

If you are referring to the DC Universe Classics figure, it's not so much about the sculptors buffing out characters as much as Mattel reusing a number of basic body molds throughout the line. The cost of doing some of the more obscure characters is justified by the fact that it will just be a new head sculpt and some minor retooling for a pre-existing body mold.

Bowen's first Black Widow is gorgeous, why doesn't he just re-release that one and make a new character.  Say...Guardian?
