DOOM PATROL #4, page 12 by Byrne/Hazlewood:

Doom Patrol was great.  For my collection I can't resist Negative Man pages.  The transformation shot made this a must-have for me!

Love this collaboration between Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez and
Joe Prado for several reasons. This page (Inks on this
issue were done over blue lines, due to the great physical
distance between the two artists).is a great representation
of the energy and care put into each panel in the issue.
Joe's detailed linework makes Jose's pencils pop!

While published in the last 1970's, this splash page has a
vibe reminiscent of the 1950's for me. Jose Luis Garcia-
Lopez provides pencils, while Joe Giella provides inks. As
detailed as inks were in the previous piece, Giella's very
loose style, which was well suited for the few decades
prior to this project, left much of Jose's style lost in
transition. That said, fun page that I was very happy to
add to my collection.

Fred, those are great pages!

I really like the opening splash pages with the titles, credits, etc.

Me too, Joe. There are times that I am blown away by what he has in
his portfolios. This happens nearly as much as how many times I am
surprised at what con goers pass by and remains unsold by weekend's
end.

JLA #99, page 10:

My second page by the Byrne/Ordway team.  Grunt ripping apart a vampire and the closeup shot of Crucifer sold me on this one.

No comic has consistently drawn me in and emotionally
impacted me to the degree that Strangers in Paradise did.
From my first reading of the "I Dream of You" tpb in grad
school until the powerful wrap-up, this series affected me
deeply. I was fortunate in having the opportunity to
purchase this piece (Strangers in Paradise #88, page 9)
directly from Terry Moore, years ago, at a time that an
important relationship in my life was ending. I speaks of
love and loss in a manner that only Moore can.

I propose we rename this thread FRED AND JOE'S NEW ART-A-PALOOZA.

The Byrne splurge continues with Doom Patrol #13, page 8:

This page is extra special because it is my first page by the legendary penciler/inker team of John Byrne and Terry Austin!*

*and the last one available from Jim Warden.  Sorry guys...

My recent Byrne splurge comes to a close with a great NEXT MEN splash:

Great perspective and this drawing tells you so much about the sleazeball behind the desk.

John's firm and consistent mindfulness of perspective is something I've
appreciated, since first becoming aware of it as a kid.
