Jonah gets the jump on some bandits and Jose Luis Garcia- Lopez sets a scene like nobody's business! One can almost feel the dirt underfoot. Jonah Hex #2, page 8.

This is the final page of my haul from the Boston Comic Con. Amazing set-up from an amazing artist. Jonah Hex #5, page 1. The anatomy on both humans and horses is flawless and the energy and drama leap from this page. I am very fortunate to be able to look at this piece up close and am continually floored that I have been able to get ahold of as many original pages from Jonah as I have.

Fred, I stopped by Jose's table at the Boston Con but don't recall seeing those pages--he did have quite a nice page featuring Bat Lash, and I think one other with Jonah Hex. You must have got there before I did. Nice choices.

I have the pleasure of hanging with him for full cons and I jump in most of the Hex pages that he brings. My fascination with that series continues to grow every time that I read it. His pages were the best of it. Wish we had known that we were both at the show. I like y spoke with you, when you were at his table.

I continue to hope for a day when Paul Pelletier returns to Marvel and the company gives him the props that he is due. That dream includes a lengthy run on a relaunched Marvel Team-Up, of course. Paul Greer and I were having this conversation, just last night. Slott writing and Pelletier on art would elevate that title to the top of Marvel's line-up. I was fortunate in having the opportunity to get Paul to do his take on two of my favorite characters. I've always been impressed at his work and, especially, his interpretation of these two greats! Thanks to Paul for making this happen.

Fred, That might be the piece that finally convinces me I need a Pelletier commission! Very nice!

Fred, in the old days cons gave everyone name badges, but the modern trend in cons seems to be wrist bands, meaning that we probably miss saying hello to a lot of folks we might enjoy speaking with. Too bad, but now that I know you hang out at Jose's table, perhaps I'll catch up with you at a future con.
The piece I wanted to purchase from Jose was a bit more than I had in cash, and I discovered when I tried to use my ATM card at one of the bandit machines in the convention center that it had expired one day earlier. I had a new one at home, but hadn't got around to activating it. I asked Jose if he would be willing to take a check for the balance, and after humorously scrutinizing me for traces of larceny, he graciously consented. If that story rings any bells with you, then you must have been the rather pleasant fellow I spoke with who was seated next to Jose. As I recall he--or you--actually had a badge, but it had flipped around so the back side was out and thus I wasn't sure quite whom I was talking to. If I had seen your name, I would have recognized it and said hello. Next time!

I remember the situation pretty clearly. Glad you were able to get a page. Jose is in Connecticut this weekend and I'll be back beside him in Baltimore next month. Seems that there will be precious few JBFers there this year.
