Ken Kelly, cover artist of KISS albums DESTROYER and LOVE GUN, was at the Wizard World con in Richmond, Virginia over the weekend. I had him sign those album covers, of course, plus some other items. Also,  I noticed he had some pencil sketches displayed and I asked if he would do one of Gene Simmons for me. In a matter of minutes, I had this. Pretty sweet.

Jamal Igle is a talented artist, on top of being an
incredibly friendly guy. His artwork has a fresh and fun
style that is not easily found in modern comics. When he
originally launched his Molly Danger Kickstarter campaign
in 2012, I was ready to support it for those reasons
alone. Add the fact that Molly was created to be a strong
female character in a genre that is sorely lacking in
those and I checked out pledge levels immediately. One of
the pledges allowed for a cover quality commission and I
didn't hesitate, knowing that he'd produce a fun and
unique piece that would stand out in this gallary. The
results speak for themselves and exemplify why Jamal is
as beloeved as he is.

Love these Ivan Reis and Joe Prado and love their work.
Their combined efforts produce some amazing images, with
Joe's extremely detailed and intricate inks making Ivan's
pencils leap from the page! I saw this page posted by
Chiroscuro Studios and knew that I wanted to have it in my
collection. A great set-up for the series and a nice
representation of the teamwork of the League.

A year and a half ago, my then 10 year old step-son met
Jose at a FCBD event, held at a local comic shop. Johnny
is not an original art collector, nor was he aware of the
effort and time needed to create artwork. That said, he
waited in line as others ahead of him requested that Jose
draw headshots of their favorite DC characters. When
Johnny got to the front of the line, he asked Jose if he
would "draw every incarnation of Batman from over the
years". We laughed and Johnny received a nice piece, but
not THAT piece.

At Boston Comic Con 2015, Jose had this piece in one of
his portfolios and I was immediately reminded of the
event that I described above. Again, not every
incranation, but an incredibly cool depiction of the many
faces of Batman and facets of his character.

I tend to focus on original artwork from published pages,
but occassionally I see something that leaves me with no
option other than grabbing it and runni... um, throwing
down my money and thrilled to own a piece never having seen
print. This, with no need for explanation, is such a piece.

I love Garcia-Lopez's storytelling skills. This short
story from DC's Action Comics Weekly title is a great
example of those skills. From layouts, to postures and
facial expressions, this Phantom Stranger storyline is
pathos-filled and flows above so many others. These pages
grew on me as the weekend of Boston comic Con progressed
and, when nobody else jumped on them (Yeah, I was
surprised too!) by the time the show ended.... well,
looks like an additional quest for complete storyline art
begins.

This story features my favorite boy-riding-a-dinosaur-
and-going-up-against-the-Phantom-Stranger page ever!

That JGL Joker is phenomenal. I don't think I'd pass on that, either.

(I miss that guy!!!  That version of the Joker, I mean...)

My collection has become incredibly skewed over the past
few years and, increasingly so in the area of Jonah Hex
pages. These are the ones I immediately gravitate towards,
whenever we get together at conventions. Jose's
storytelling skills are amazing and this bar scene is right
up there with Jose Salinas' work. This is page #5 from
Weird Western Tales #38, the last issue from that series.
