Love the Negation series and I recently picked up some pages. Artwork by Paul Pelletier and Dave Meikis.

Pelletier is the man. Even early in his career, his work
stood out to me. His work in the past 10-15 years has
especially impressed me.

Rick Geary shot to the top of my graphic novel faves,
when he began working on his Treasury of Victorian Murder
series. His storytelling skills and use of reference
material had me hooked from the start. I believe that a
part of the appeal for me is the contrast that his
cartoony, caricature style has to the dark subject
matter. Whether it was reading the NBM volumes or gladly
supporting his more recent Kickstarter campaigns, I've
eagerly awaited and picked up each new book.

The Lincoln book is a solid read and I've recently become
more curious with one of the forgotten victims of the
assassination plot. Major Henry Rathbone and his wife
were last minutes guests of the Lincolns that night and
his life was shattered with that event. The years that
followed saw his guilt, depression and PTSD-like symptoms
grow into murderous rages and institutionalization.
Facinating and tragic story. Geary managed to display the
heroism of Rathbone to the shocking attack incredibly
well in this page....

Geary has produced dozens of historical murders and mystery
graphic novels. I've loved each one of them. The story of
the Bloody Benders is one of my favorite volumes of his
work. The story is as fascinating as it is gruesome and
Geary's cartoonish style makes it even more disturbing, yet
somehow more palatable at the same time. This splash page
was placed at the front of the story, to depict in detail,
how this family committed their crimes against unwary
travelers.

Geary not only provides great detail about the horrific
crimes the he depicts in his historical murder graphic
novels, but he clearly lies out the prominent theories
behind these crimes and those who may have been involved.
In the Bloody Benders book, he goes a step farther and
discusses how the local community exploited the crimes for
profit and celebration in the years since the murders took
place. A commentary on our society to be sure..... and a
very powerful page.

I spent a couple hours yesterday at the Gem City Comic Con in Dayton, Ohio where I was very pleased to meet Peter Bagge.  I've just recently gotten into his work and he has quickly become one of my favorite creators. Here are a couple quickie doodles inside two of his books I purchased from him:

Peter Bagge also delivered two commissions to me at the show.  The first, Bob Dylan Going Electric:

This made me laugh when I saw it!  I love the sound effect and the crowd response!  =0)

Last but not least from Gem City, Peter Bagge's homage to Marvel Team-Up 68:

Totally Bagge's decision to make this a Buddy Bradley piece.  I love how it came out!  He seemed really excited about it too which is always nice.
