I think the "J" in Fred's name stands for: Just got another Garcia Lopez page. I could say it's a nice page, but all of his pages are great. Congrats, Fred. You should own his entire JH library at some point...I hope.

Eric, I'd love to own an entire issue, though nearly 40
years after it was published and pages sold, that is
extremely doubtful. That said, I am more than content to
pick up pages when I can and enjoy both the art and the man
who provides it to all of us with a generous heart.

The thing that strikes me about the Lopez page is the black and white layers. The masters of comic art all seem to effortlessly switch from black to white. Every panel on that page is a lesson on what to make black and what to leave white to add depth, form and space. Just look at the figures and see which ones are silhouette and which ones are not. A-Mazing.

Mastery for sure. One of the most surreal aspects of
watching him draw at shows is how he sometimes appears to
agonize over a piece, that to mere mortals, appears
flawless..... before erasing something or adjusting it with
pencil layering.

Fred, the Jonah Hex page is beautiful ! Everything has been said in a much better way than I would about JLGL's art, so I'll just say congratulations once more !

JB, thank you very much for the kind words. I am amazed at Jack Herbert's work, and I am very happy and proud to have this particular piece in my home.

A wise man once said, "You can never own enough pages from JACK KIRBY'S FOURTH WORLD....especially if those pages feature Metron."

Yes, that wise man was me.  JK4W issue 2, page 3:

Amazing to look at that page and realize that just a few years later, when I was doing BLOOD OF THE DEMON, DC would not allow such theological musings!
