His technique at inkwash is also impressive, such a huge talent !

I have taken a look at the sketchbook colored cover, and a bigger scan in your comicartfans page. I have to say I also prefer the original piece. It is a beauty !

Those Herbert gray tones are reminiscent of the artwork in the 70's Marvel magazines. Really nice stuff.

I just spent a few minutes scrolling thru this thread. Seems like I haven't done so in a while. Some truly amazing work on display here.

But (you knew this was coming, right?) it struck me that if all the pieces in this thread were placed in chronological order, we'd see the slow and steady rise to dominance of the singer over the song. So many pieces -- and I name no names -- that represent artists saying, loudly, this is how I would do these characters!

This seems to be a growing trend over the past handful of
years. It may be my imagination, but it seems to have
snowballed in frequency since the chronic costume changes
at Marvel and New52 at DC.

Breno Tamura's art style has an energy and sense of fun
that mirrors his personality. I am left smiling by his work
and my interactions with him. "Just a sketch" (in his
words) is something that I can spend time just sitting and
appreciating for some time.

Rod Reis' style inevitably brings comparisons to Bill
Sienkiewicz and this sketch displays much of the
similarities. Anyone following him and seeing his published
work (Interiors and covers) and his commissioned work will
tell you that the man is his own artist! Love this sketch
and truly appreciate the man.

Since his evolution to his modern style years ago, I've
preferred John Romita Jr. on grim & gritty "street" books
like Batman and Daredevil or larger-than life titles like
Thor, but when I saw some pages from his Amazing Spider-Man
run, inked by Klaus Janson and featuring the webhead
battling Green Goblin, I didn't hesitate to grab one of
them. I love this page!

Super cool Batman by Gene Ha, Ari -- you're on a roll.

JR Jr sure knows how to tell a story with pictures. The man is a master.

Careful, JB. You'll ruin your reputation.
