There have been many incredible artists on the Amazing
Spider-Man title before and since his time, but Ross
Andru's Spider-Man was mt Spider-Man. This storytelling
ability and skills at expressing emotion through both the
physical gestures and facial expressions resonated deeply
with me. The fact that he had a lengthy run on the title
didn't hurt either. When I became aware of this page
being available for purchase, I jumped!

Amazing Spider-Man #169, page 31

I was giggling like a 9 year old kid when I was able to
get a hold of a page from one of my favorite childhood
issues of my favorite childhood title a handful of years
back. I had been mentioning it to a friend recently and
showed him the page in a reprint, adding that it was "the
best page from the book!"... before flipping a few more
pages and then conceding that maybe a page following it
was the best page. Literally a day later, the very same
page that had trumped the original I had purchased became
available.... Amazing Spider-Man #170, page 26. I love
this story and the story! I don't use the word "grail"
very much when referring to my collection, because I've
been extremely fortunate at the incredible artwork drawn
by so many...... but this is certainly one of my faves!

Very nice, Fred.  Anybody got any Ross Andru pencils?  I always heard they were excellent, but I don't recall ever seeing any reproduced.

The Aw Yeah Comics crew was out in full force at the Cincinnati Expo!  Scoot McMahon was offering free sketches with any purchase of his new comic Sami the Samurai Squirrel.  I had him draw Awesome Bear:

This might be my favorite Art Baltazar piece:

This is a group shot of the villains from his AW YEAH COMICS! book.  That's Chicago and Skokie, IL in the background.

I've met Baltazar probably a dozen times at shows but this was my first chance to meet Franco!  This is Action Cat and The Phantom Lemur:
