Batman and Green Arrow

Pencils by Mike Grell

I met Mike Grell this weekend and had a wonderful time watching him bring these two heroes to life on the page right before my eyes. My scans do not do this piece justice; a lot of fine detail is lost.

I've enjoyed his work for years, and it was quite a thrill to be able to sit down and chat and listen to him regale us with stories of his career in comics. He is truly a class act!

Lloyd, I was there at Kingdom Comics as well and I concur. Great guy and a huge talent. I wish I'd been able to afford a piece like you got and to have spent more time at the shop as well. Congratuations!

A couple of recent purchases, both from Magic the Gathering (I don't actually play the game, but I'm in awe of many of the artistic talents) . . .

Commissioned from Angel Gabriele, this Kirby-esque piece featuring obscure public domain superhero the Grim Reaper busting in on professional jerk the Red Skull.

Recent addition to my collection . . .

Richard Sala magazine illustration entitled, 'Curse of the Money Tomb':

I usually go for a more illustrative style, but there's something about Richard's quirky style that brings a big smile to my face.
