Donald Duck by Don Rosa, Motor City Con 2014. It's a joy to watch him whip out the Duck characters.

Last one from Motor City Con and it's a doozy! The main attraction for me in terms of comicbook guests was the opportunity to meet Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez. I specifically budgeted money in hopes of landing two pieces from him (you saw my Joker sketch on the previous page). I managed to be first in line for him on Saturday morning and poured over his portfolios of art while he sketched looking for the perfect piece for me. Here it is:
What else can I say?

I was very fortunate at Motor City this year. Not only was it a great show, well laid out and a great group of friends to hang out with, but art collected is still sinking in for me... first up is a piece that I received from Joe Prado. Though Joe is now known for and prefers inking, he started out in the industry as a penciller. This piece is a great example of his skills.

Next up in the Brazilian brigade is the piece from Eddy Barrows. It is a page from the same issue that featured art that I first picked up from him when I met him, previously unaware of his work of the emotional impact of his art.

Landed this wonderful Paul Pelletier piece only a week and a half before the Motor City show. It is the final page of an especially emotionally impactful story that was spot on for Paul's artistic skills. Due to the power of this issue, I contacted his agent immediately after reading it to grab several of the pages from the story, but initially passed on this one. Fortunately, I had an opportunity to correct that error in judgement.

Joe, the 'prefect piece' for you by Garcia-Lopez is perfect! That piece of art is good even by his standards.

The return of the Hulk to his own title was wayyyy too long in coming, but the payoff in his reintroduction was classic and Paul Pelletier's depiction of it is right up there at the top as far as best visual sequences in comics from the past few decades. This page is the lead-in to the double- splash page featuring the Hulk and includes a great nod to Jack Kirby as well!

The second published piece that I picked up from Paul at the show was the cover to the Fall of the Hulk-Red Hulk #4 cover. I was blown away, when I saw this and a bit surprised to find out that it was the Red Hulk being swarmed by villains, not the original Hulk. Red Hulk's hair is slightly shorter than the Hulk's, as Paul pointed out. I was psyched to bring this home and marvel at the man's skills.

I waited over a year for this piece, but Paul blew me away with the attention to detail and effort put into this sketch. I love his portrayal of both of these characters and, between that and their history, it was a no-brainer to request them going up against each other.
