Many know I have been trying to put FF 286, back together. I just received
one of the best page from the book, the dramatic return of Jean Grey! This is
the highlight of the year a great example by Byrne/Austin. Best of candidate!
Putting a regular book back together can be a herculean effort but this one
had 30 pages (not the regular 22) and the 3 page flashback sequence done
by Jackson Guice (how many noticed Byrne or Austin didn't draw the
published flashback pages?). I now have 16 of the 30 published page and 2
of the 3 unpublished ones. If anyone has pages from this issue please drop
me a line.

I've just recently had a fabulous commissioning experience with artist Chris Faccone who I basically just stumbled upon via Facebook a couple weeks ago.  He does a lot of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE fan art so I thought a He-Man meets the Man-Thing commission would be fun for my collection!  He sent me lots of "in-progress" updates and the evolution was very interesting.  Here's the first layout sketch he sent me:

Here's the final inked piece:

...along with a digitally colored version!  He went through a lot of adjustments to the piece which I gave him total freedom to play around with.  He ended up including Skeletor and Beast Man with the idea that Beast Man was controlling Man-Thing and making him fight He-Man.  Fun piece!

Interesting choice of words considering that Hercules is mentioned in the first word balloon!

And great page!

Joe,

I continue to be impressed by the scenarios you come up with that make an
encounter with Man-Thing seem natural!

Thanks Vinnie!  Let's not forget, it's all JB's fault!
