Bill, Thanks for the nice comment on the Nova pieces. Classic Richard Rider Nova is the only one for me. Not much enthusiasm for the latest version. All 3 commissions were very affordable for me too, which is a plus.Greg, love that Perez Captain Marvel!

I have been a big fan of Roy Thomas' All-Star Squadron back in the 80s. A bit different from the JSA, showcased lesser known golden age heroes like Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle but still had Hawkman and Atom. Here are two great pages from the series I just picked up. Buckler and Ordway were a great combo in the early series then Adrian Gonzales (whatever happened to him) took over pencils with Ordway inks.

Re. Adrian Gonzales, looks like he passed away in 1998.

Brian, ditto on diggin All-Star Squadron. Seeing Roy Thomas, Rich Buckler, and Jerry Ordway working together made this a fun, nostalgia filled read..
Ari, Nice Mike Choi piece. Can't go wrong with Batman and gargoyles. All pencil/tones?

Man, love that first All-Star pic! What a great buy. The first couple of years of that series was magic, doing almost everything right. Thomas even made me like the Atom, a character I had never really thought much about before. I remember at first being disappointed in seeing that it was not going to concentrate on the JSA but a bunch of GA characters I never heard of at the time.
Often struck me as funny that Marvel got such mileage out of Wolverine and DC never managed to get much out of the characters they had with similar make-up: the Atom - short, a bit feisty, and a good rough and tumble fighter; Steel, the indestructible man - healing factor, a metal skeleton thanks to govt project..sort of Wolverine crossed with Captain America; Timber Wolf - a feral loose-cannon on a group of characters that are otherwise fairly straight laced and with similar look and hairstyle thanks to Cockrum.

All of these are impressive, but considering them collectively, I'm beginning to think that Batman lost a bet and is now required to perch at least once on every gargoyle on the North American and European continent . . .
