Here's a watercolor of Black Cat I picked up at MidOhioCon.
The artists name is Allyson O'Dell.

Sorry haven't had time to post my loot yet. Please forgive my sucky camera work too.

I don't know how to shrink art to make it fit here, but folks who appreciate my batman and gargoyle pieces can check out Paul Smith's take on the theme here:

Here's my latest purchase after a few months off;

WIZARD #68 cover by Stuart Immonen, introducing
the all-new, all different Superman !

http://qurls.com?i=54025

I was a regular buyer of WIZARD in the mid-late '90s,
but somehow
I'd missed this issue, as my local shop sold out.

I guess owning the original art for it's cover AND poster (!)
will compensate for it \:\

IMO, Stuart Immonen and Jose' Marzan Jr more than did justice
to this version of the Superman suit.

While very controversial when introduced, I think this Ron Frenz
designed suit stood the test of time better than most of the
more lasting '90s costume designs. It looked KEWL then and it
still looks cool now, it was only the story that didn't hold up.

I apologize for posting such a small, so-so image, I just couldn't
help it but post something ! I'll add a much better image of the art
once I have it in my hand, I also hope to locate the complete poster
image and add it as well.

In the meantime, comments are very welcome and appreciated.

Thanks for looking,
Gal

My recent flurry of DAN DARE art presented me with an odd little moment, somewhat along these lines. When my "aunt" in England was sending me bundles of EAGLE, the weekly in which the DARE strip appeared, she would occasionally miss one. One particular adventure, "The Platinum Planet", she somehow missed the first installment -- but I didn't notice! The second episode did such a good job of "catching up" the readers that I genuinely thought the story started there.

Until just recently, in fact, I had not seen that first episode, until I happened to notice one page of the original art is available from the same place I have been buying my other DARE art. After all these years, I finally saw the first page -- but I was not inspired to buy it.

May have mentioned this before, but speaking of DAN DARE, I was just poking thru the archives of my "source" for pages, and saw once again that they have a listing for THIS:

Already sold, so I am spared temptation -- but it's a teeny bit frustrating as this is the page right AFTER one of my DARE "grail" pages.

Still, beautiful stuff, huh?

Nice to find out that on of my heroes shared a similar experience...

I do understand however (I think) why you weren't as tempted to get that page -
since you haven't read it as a child, the nostalgic investment wasn't there,
at least not as much as it was with pages burned in your memory.
In many cases, I'd prefer pages from books I did read, even if presented
something better from that same period.

My son Matt and I have started to collect Walt Kelly artwork featuring Pogo.  We both enjoy reading the reprints and the originals are relatively affordable when compared to much of the vintage superhero art we like.  2013 has gotten off to a great start so far as we we able to pick up a classic daily strip from 1950 and a really neat specialty illo Walt Kelly drew for a friend in the early 1950's.  Here is the daily strip:
