Found online:

Bryne has a weird complex with immigration and assimilation. I think he once called immigrants who still held onto their home country a bit “spoiled brats.”

+++++++

Byrne also called Superman a Super Republican lol I think he made Superman American simply cuz of his dislike for immigrants

—————

Neither of these are in any way correct. Seems like anything they don’t like, they lay at my doorstep.

I am myself an immigrant, and quite proud of my British heritage.

And it was Frank Miller who made Superman a Republican, in DKR.

What’s sad is to poke around some of these comments and find people grumbling about things that happened thirty years ago (if they happened at all).

GET A LIFE, people!!!!!

The irony of their obsession is that it inflates John Byrne's importance until it seems like John Byrne once had nefarious control over everything in comics and only recently lost it -- (Thank God!).

It's kind of weird that a "bad" thing that Frank Miller did is remembered as something done by John Byrne. How does that work I wonder? Maybe John Byrne had control of Superman's portrayal in DKR! That guy was everywhere!

Anyone who still can't spell 'Byrne' is immediately suspect.
