Part of the description:

“DC Versus Marvel Omnibus includes stories from some of comics’ most revered talents, including Denny O’Neil, George Pérez, Dan Jurgens, Chris Claremont, Walt Simonson, J.M. DeMatteis, Mark Bagley, Gerry Conway, John Romita Jr., and more. DC and Marvel fans alike can’t miss these thrilling pieces of unearthed comic book history!”

I guess this makes me the Professor and Mary Ann……..

Other times, your name is first--when you did 10% of the book!

Yeah not a fan of that description either JB!
But as a fan of yours, obviously, aside from the delight in having such wonderful stories as Darkseid/ Galactus reprinted herein, I was also  delighted to see that under George Perez's gorgeous dust jacket art - we find yours and Terry's equally gorgeous art from the 1991 Marvel/ DC posters! (Of which I've of course been a happy owner since '91)

Also, at the back of the book, is a fold out with the poster art once again.

Byrne and Perez together again. I'm in comic book heaven :)

I love S1 Gilligan’s Island where the song ends, “…the mo-o-vie star, and the
REST— here in Gilligan’s Isle!”

It is so awkward and feels like they’re working hard NOT to mention the
professor and Mary Anne.

This feels kinda like that. What’s the goal here? Internet publishing doesn’t
even waste INK!

It happens too often for me not to assume it’s deliberate.

Oh, and vis George, his work here is much better than mine! (In my defense, I was working from someone else’s layout, and I had to turn around both posters in about ten minutes!)

Saw a YouTube “review”. My cover was identified as a commission piece.

Thanks for that background, JB! I had no idea (obviously) you were working from someone else's layout? Why would the powers that be not just leave you and Terry to it?  Goes without saying, you guys would have come up with something fantastic!,
Sounds like you got very late notice on the project. Ah well, I'm still happy you got to draw a bunch of iconic Marvel and DC characters in the one project. (well, aside from magnificent commissions of recent years!)

Almost everything I did at DC was “late notice”. The WORLD OF… miniseries were actually scheduled late!

This might be the first published use of the piece(s) outside of the posters. Might have to get this just for that!!

Incidentally, Amazon’s listing for THE ART OF JOHN BYRNE says “by Chris Claremont”.

When Chris and I were at DC at the same time DC editorial ran an ad that listed the top people then working for them. The list was alphabetical. It started Chris Claremont, John Byrne….

I called and asked if they understood just how the ABCs worked.

According to CheapGraphicNovels, my copy is on the way.

Apparently, the Amalgam volume has been pushed back to the end of the
year.
