...and at the bottom of the steps is this vintage 1976 Marvel Superheroes lunchbox!  This has got to be one of the neatest collectible type gifts I've ever gotten!  For now I'm keeping the Fantastic Four side out but here it is from a couple angles:

...and I'm trying REALLY hard not to add more stuff like this to my collection but I'll make an exception for this ridiculously cute Batman and Joker!

And the latest Sci-Fi Revoltech action figure from Kaiyodo is...

The Mark VI suit from IRON MAN 2:

Actually, I liked the Mark III suit from the first IRON MAN movie better.

Hey, on Joe's vintage lunchbox, Spider-Man is swinging from . . . a rope!  Don't see that often.

I had that lunch box as a kid, and I didn't notice it was a rope until now.

Excellent lunch box - it was a jolt of nostalgia seeing it!  I remember when picking a lunch box was serious, serious business.

Today was suppose to be the date Hobbylink Japan was opening up pre-orders for the X-Plus 1962 Godzilla vinyl figure, for delivery in February 2011...

Looks like the darn thing is available right now!

A bit of warning... Perhaps due to the size of the box, or simply it was more cost effective, HLJ switched me from standard shipping to express mail, so my bro's X-mas present just went up $30 more.  At least it'll now get here within a week or so...

Just arrived today, along with a few late X-mas presents for friends and family:

About the same size and complexity as my previous 1/500 Yamato model kit from 1985 (which survives in pieces), but a huge leap in detailing and "accuracy" to the anime version.

Very cool, Bill!  It's been at least two decades since I built a model, so I'm wondering whether that kit comes together using model glue, etc. or do the pieces snap together?

James, Bandai as of late has been going with the snap-fit route for their Gundam model line, and the 1/500 Yamato kit appears to be no exception.

All you need is tweezers, a sprue nipper/cutter, and patience (the instructions even show you how to precisely remove the parts from the plastic trees).  They've included clear parts for the Wave Motion Gun gate, Main and Auxillary Engine nozzles, and all three bridge windows for possible lighting options as well.

Personally, I'd use a little styrene glue for a permanent fix, and some filling & sanding of seams before painting it, but from what I've seen from the online reviews, you can build it out of the box with impressive results:

Downside, I had to wait until HobbyLink Japan filled it's initial orders and dropped the price during the December restock, but the size of the box made the SAL economy shipping rate prohibitive ($60 at 20+ days, vs. $45 EMS at 20% discount for 7 days, at current exchange rates).  Hopefully, these might be available for special order through Diamond, BBTS, or Hobbyland USA next year.
