I have to admit..
That Galactus is half off and $30 on Amazon (w/free shipping).
He says 11 phrases. He's 19 inches tall and comes with Silver Surfer.
so I bought him.
sigh...
My kid will LOVE him. If I ever let him play with it...

I just did a shoot of the Bowen Designs Doctor Doom Modern Statue.•• After I started stippling Doom's cloak, to distinguish the different shades of green in the black and white commission pieces, some customers, not unexpectedly, began requesting their drawings without this effect. No problem -- but for a while when passing on these requests Jim Warden began referring to the non-stippled version as "slick", which in my mind immediately conjured images of cheap plastic! "Say 'smooth'," I requested, and Jim complied. "Slick" is, alas, the word that comes to mind looking at the paint job on this version. The fabric of Doom's cloak and tunic should NOT be shiny!!

well, yes, but I "voted" for a half-off price tag, which is never good news for a toy company...

That "half off" would be on the store's mark-up, and probably still turned a profit for all concerned.

That Galactus is from the Marvel Ultimate Alliance video game. He looked great in the cut scenes, but I admit it's not nearly as impressive as a figure. Oddly, Galactus looked like the classic Kirby design during the actual game play of that game.

Yeah, the half -off would (if anything) effect Amazon's ordering on the next time hasbro does a large figure. The sad truth would probably be that if sales on this Galactus are poor, Hasbro would claim that it was due to the fact that large $60 figures don't sell, not that they did a weird version of Galactus. Those good ol' toy companies like to blame the buyer before they ever blame themselves...
Clearance sales get me every time. I might have ze buyer's remorse. Oh well, I bought it so that my son can play the 11 sayings. Nothing like a 3 year old talking like Galactus. That's worth $30 to me...
Thankfully, I have the older marvel legends one, which has a very nice sculpt.

Amen to that, Dave. I get no end of amusement hearing my six year-old son say in his deepest voice "Behold, The World Eating Machine!" or "Tremble at the Might of the Power Cosmic!" The Marvel Legends build-a-figure Galactus is definitely a better sculpt, but mine doesn't seem to stand up all that well. I have the same issue with the build-a-figure Sentinel who looks like he's striking a pose from Saturday Night Fever.

Since I mentioned the Marvel Legends build-a-figure collection, I thought I'd share my most recent pickup from eBay: Fin Fang Foom! The package arrived Friday and FFF has been wreaking havoc on all the other action figures and toys all weekend....

*sigh* Sometimes I wish I hadn't sold all my Marvel Legends...
Then I realize it was a pretty good way to pay rent and bills so I have a place to keep all my Eaglemoss figures and DC Direct Statues!

@James Can you post a picture of your Sentinel? I had problems with one of mine standing. Turns out the hip joints were upside down.
