I haven't been picking up the DC Ame-Comi figures, since I liked the Kotobukiya Bishoujo line better. That changed today with the Jade figure:•• I wouldn't place a quality distinction on Ame-Comi vs Bishoujo (and glad I am that you said YOU like the latter better than the former, rather than making a blanket statement that one line IS better than the other!). Each has it's own merits -- and each has enticed me into buying characters about which I care not one whit, due to cute sculpts. Star Sapphire (who arrived yesterday) in the case of Ame-Comi, and Psyloke in the case of Bishoujo. (Full disclosure: I also picked up the Bishoujo Dark Phoenix, even tho the costume is not technically accurate.)

JB, I try to keep things as personal experience / preference / opinion when I post, and I assure you that it wasn't my intention of implying that the Bishoujo line was of better quality than the Ame-Comi. My LCS has had some problems getting the import toys (hence HLJ has been my supplier for the Bishoujos), but they do get the Ame-Comi's on a regular basis, and they seem to be selling well. If there's one thing that anime merchandising has shown me over these past couple of decades, it's that there's something for everyone. The interesting thing about that Jade figure is that I already had seen it months ago in Diamond Previews and it didn't strike my interest at all. It wasn't until I was able examine her up close did I noticed the nice job they did with the figure and turned it into an impulse buy (really got to stop doing that last part). For a disclosure of my own, I ended up canceling my Bishoujo Ms. Marvel order from HLJ when I realized that I was getting it more for the Shunya Yamashita design than liking the actual character... I can wait for Yamashita's next art compilation book in that case. Now, the Bishoujo Wonder Woman... That will be mine!

The first Bishoujo I've ever ordered is the Wonder Woman, and I'm really looking forward to it. I've got all the Cover Girls statues so far but they have one coming out next year based on #600 with the new pants/jacket suit that I don't want. I decided upon seeing the Kotobukiya Wonder Woman that it would make a suitable "in lieu of..." piece.

Oh, good! That way I'll still be able to have the whole series! Not that I'm some kind of obsessive compulsive collector guy or anything...

Thought this was too cute not to share...
It's the house from the Studio Ghibli anime film MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO, done as a small laser-cut cardstock diorama kit... http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2010-12-03/totoro-h ome-made-into-papercraft-diorama The technology does bring up some interesting possiblities for the Avengers Mansion, or stately Wayne Manor...

I'm hoping that the experts on this thread might have some input on action figure, statue and toy repair. I have a Gentle Giant life-size Princess Leia statue that suffered a broken arm during some routine target practice, so any input on what kind of glue or epoxy to use to glue the pieces back together would be much appreciated.

I have a number of other broken toys and collectibles as well, but I think I'll them one at a time. Thanks!

This arrived this morning from HLJ (didn't a chance open it up until now)
In the foreground is the new "Soul of Chogokin" Space Battleship Yamato display toy, with the 2001 "Soul of Popynica" version in the back, and the Bandai 4 inch long mini-model for scale (and the SoP's rocket anchor chain). The camera flash really washes out the paint job, so the weathering looks a bit more obvious than normal. The SoC Yamato is longer than it's predecessor and comes with more digital bells & whistles (light & sound effects, plays the theme music via a remote), but seems a lot more fragile than the Popynica one. And despite it's Chogokin name, it's mostly constructed out of plastic than diecast metal (a far cry from Aoshima's "Shin Seiki Gohkin" line of replicas). Having a lot of fun now firing the Wave Motion Gun.

Hey, does anyone have a spare right leg from the Galactus build-a-figure? I have various Mattel DCU build-a-figure spare parts for trade.

I just got these as early Christmas presents for my superhero-themed Christmas Tree!

They're both awesome, the Spider-Man/Green Goblin particularly!

Not a toy or action figure, but a genuine ARGH!! moment.Needing a new lamp for my bedside table, I went to Amazon and scrolled thru the selection. Finding a style I liked at a price I liked, I hit the ol' one click button, and thought no more about it. The new lamp arrived Friday and I got around to unpacking it yesterday. In doing so, I found an attached label that informed me it was from the Mary Kate and Ashley Collection. Argh!! At least it says nothing to this effect on the lamp itself!!
