I really like that Thor. No need to over-think it, it just looks cool! But I'm getting the bust from Bowen instead.

JB, you're absolutely right about absurdity of the armor being contoured to his muscles, but it's the type of "comic book absurdity" that, for me, works.

••

And it works for me, too -- in a comicbook. The problems arise when those 2D images are translated into 3D and there is no apparent thought to how it would really work.

The "over-thinking" happens when Kirby's original, simple and elegant design is transformed into something clunky and cumbersome like this version.

I think it would be a solid update to the Kirby design if they didn't have so much chainmail. Bare arms are fine.

I'm sorry, but every time I see that "new" Thor, I think he just looks like a chunky chick. In fact, he looks just like Poundcakes, from that gal wrestling team thing during Project Pegasus back in the 1970s.

In fact, I'd take that "horrible" 2nd Thor pic/costume over Poundcakes 9 out of 10. I like that one 4000 times more than Poundcakes.

EDIT graphic add.

Got this from Walmart the other day. I consider this Jack Kirby's Spider-Man. I love the character, who is completely (and probably luckily) underused in comics today.

Oh, it's Forager, or Bug, however you want to term him.

I just wish I could get him to crouch! Forager is always running around slouched over and squatting while eating, and so on. I mean, because nothing is ever just good enough.
