Sal was a superb storyteller.  In my eyes, his art continued to get better.  I like his later work the best.

My experience with Sal was similar to my experience with Kirby and Mignola - it took me a few years to understand and appreciate what I was looking at.

But man, Sal could draw one hell of a comic book. Those THOR issues and that SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN run stand out as memorable for me. I don't know that I've ever read his HULK run, I should seek that out at some point.

Thank you, Sal, for so much storytelling and power.
It was quite a shock during my late teens when I found out that Sal was his
best inker on those PPTSSM issues.
It made me wonder: was he always able to do that, or was it something that
clicked during only that period?
Always wanted to ask him.
