And did these ever ink JB?

Steve Ditko
Jack Kirby (Anything?  Even some obscure con sketch?)

Post-1960s instances of Steve Ditko inking someone else's pencils are extremely rare.  So rare in fact that I'm only aware of one example:  Micronauts Annual #2, in which Rich Buckler drew the first ten pages and then gave up the assignment, and Ditko finished the pencils and then inked the whole thing, presumably to give the art a more uniform look.

I'm not aware of any instances of Kirby inking someone else's work in the 70s or beyond.  He rarely even inked his own work at that point.

That's a really interesting cover.
Machine man's face is Ditko
The goon's face is Byrne.

On so much of it, I can see both Byrne and Ditko - it's
like one of those optical illusions. Squint and it's one
thing, squint a different way, and it's another.

It's a nice synthesis -- works much better than I might have thought. It you look at the right boot of Machine Man, the feel of those lines is very Ditko, especially the shadow, but the shape of the boot, that convincing 3-d look to the boot and its sole, is very Byrne.

That's how I feel about the Byrne/Simonson collab! What a good way of putting it.

Delighted to be proven wrong about the Byrne/Ditko collaboration.
