I think everyone in this forum agree in our love for Stan Lee.
I love, among many other things, the tongue-in-cheek way he blew his own trumpet.
While in DC everything was more annonymous. Perhaps that is why the name and importance of Julius Schwartz is not as well known.
He added to superhero comics a certain degree of science-fiction flavour and revitalised --perhaps even saved-- the genre, ushering the Silver Age.
I have the impression that in the late 50s he had already laid down the foundations for all the amazing things that Stan Lee did in the 60s.
He also made Batman relevant again, did a great job with Superman, and I'd say that at least in part, his conception of the character ended up being reflected in John Byrne's version.

So, answering my own question, in my case yes, I feel he doesn't have the credit he deserves among the general public.

False equivalency. Julie’s job—and impact—was nothing like Stan’s.

I look back and I see that everything I enjoyed at DC when I first started reading in the 1970's was guided by Julius Schwartz.

Let's just say he deserved more credit than he got.

No, and why would he?

Julie wasn't a writer of his titles' scripts like Stan, but in a world where (incorrectly, IMO) Roy Thomas is being granted co-creator credit on Wolverine, Julie would likewise have to be considered a co-creator of the Silver Age versions of Flash, Green Lantern, Atom, and Hawkman.

Roy's comments and actions since Len's death are equally unfortunate, unnecessary, and quite frankly, a bit embarrassing.

Thanks for your comments. Perhaps my wording of the topic was unfortunate, especially in mentioning Stan Lee.
I didn't mean that Julius Schwartz is comparable to Stan Lee. Of course Stan created a new world of comics, created (or co-created) a lot of new characters, wrote a lot of comic books, and his influece was much more direct and more important.
I just meant that Julius Schwartz, from the position he held, managed to exert a very important influence on the history of the superhero comics in a critical period, and I personally feel that he should have received more recognition than he has.

He got plenty of recognition, the Superman cover you posted yourself is proof enough IMHO.

Credit and recognition are very different. And so is the nescience/general public to the enthusiast, no matter what the topic.

From my experience the only comic book person known and recognized as such  by the general public, is Stan Lee.

So, Julius Schwartz has received or been given the correct credit, but will never get the recognition.

The recognition Stan got was because of his role as the voice of and promoter of Marvel.

Schwartz didn't fill the same roll.  Hardcore comics fans know about Schwartz, but "civilians" don't and there was no real reason to expect them to know about him.

It's hard to imagine my childhood without Stan Lee or Julius Schwartz.
