In all seriousness --- I remember back in the mid-80s when JRJR took over Uncanny... and to me it kinda felt like he drew each issue in just about under an hour. Not trying to slam him, because some of his work in later years is great.
But what I'm trying to reconcile is... how in the world has JB managed to find the actual, physical time to produce such a copious amount of high-quality work? It just doesn't seem like it makes any sense.
I've come to understand that that was one of the great Dave Cockrum's weaknesses, no disparagement intended --- but he was challenged when it came to timetables and production value. His first run on UXM was stellar, his second run not so much.
But any google search of Byrne's work will reveal mountains of jaw-dropping, Michelangelo-esque material, and it seems endless. There's always some "new" piece that I hadn't yet seen that just floors me.
The dedication and attention to detail that it must've taken to render Doom's machine in this panel... yeah. It just doesn't make any sense.
Mutant.
